cool, you should search sai tutorials on youtube, some are long and boring but will show you different drawing and painting techniques that will help you out,
but most of all just play around with the program you want to use EVERYDAY, get very farmiliar with it.
fan art is always good for practise, don't be affraid to copy something (for practise) but try not to rip-off another artist's work
